Abstract

RETRACTION: W. Wu, H. Li, Q. Zhou, B. Wu, W. Huang, and Z. Fang, “Auxin-Responsive OsMADS60 Negatively Mediates Rice Tillering and Grain Yield by Modulating OsPIN5b Expression,” The Plant Journal 121, no. 6 (2025): e70107, https://doi.org/10.1111/tpj.70107. The above article, published online on 16 March 2025 in Wiley Online Library (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/), has been retracted by agreement between the authors; the journal Editor-in-Chief, Katherine Denby; the Society for Experimental Biology (SEB); and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. Following publication, the authors informed the editor that their additional analysis revealed discrepancies between their new results and the results published in this article. Specifically, during auxin induction treatments performed on ZH11, changes in expression levels within tiller buds and basal part tissues showed significant differences between the new data and the data published here. The new results also show a significant decrease in OsMADS60 expression at 48 hours, compared to the published results indicating that OsMADS60 maintained a relatively high expression level at 48 hours. The authors note that they may have mistakenly sampled root material instead of the intended tissues, leading to this discrepancy. Their new results show that the transcriptional regulatory relationship between OsPIN5b and OsMADS60 remains consistent with that reported here; however, the regulatory relationships between OsMADS60 and other PIN family members differ from the original results. For instance: (1) OsPIN1a and OsPIN10a did not exhibit the significant regulatory relationship observed in the original article; and (2) The relationships for OsPIN1b and OsPIN2 were contrary to the original results. Because of these errors and the unreliability of the authors being able to reproduce their original results, the editor and the authors have lost confidence in the published results and conclusions. The article must therefore be retracted.
