Design and Numerical Analysis of a SAR Inverted Double T Micromixer
Abstract
Laminar flow and molecular diffusion in different fluids lead to ineffective mixing in mixers.3D passive mixers with innovative geometries and configurations are introduced to achieve desirable mixing over short distances, generating complex fluid patterns.A novel inverted double-T mixer is proposed, and the effect of the connecting angle on mixing performance is numerically examined.Fluid flow and scalar transport are investigated for Reynolds numbers from 1 to 100.The mixing index of the proposed (ππ) πΌ mixers depends on the value of the connecting angle, and the maximum mixing index can be obtained at 45 Β° and 60 Β° , 95% mixing index is observed at a Reynolds number of 80.The mixing index of the (ππ) πΌ mixer is more than 90%, which surpasses the value of a well-known (ππππ -ππππ) mixer for Rynonlds numbers 30 to 80, except for (ππ) 0 Β° (πΌ = 0 Β° ).In addition, both the pressure drop and the mixing energy cost of the (ππ) πΌ mixer is half the value of the (ππππ -ππππ) mixer.
