Manufacturing and amending the features of quaternary (PS-PEG-SiO2-SiC) futuristic nanocomposites for flexible optical and radiation attenuation applications
Abstract
The current work aims to synthesize polystyrene (PS)- polyethylene glycol (PEG) / silicon dioxide (SiO2)-silicon carbide (SiC) nanocomposites as promising materials to employ in several nanooptics and nanoelectronics devices. The electrical, microstructural, and optical features of (PS-PEG/SiO2-SiC) nanostructure samples have been investigated. Results of optical characteristics for (PS-PEG/SiO2-SiC) nanostructure samples showed that the optical factors of PS-PEG were boosted, whereas transmittance and energy gap were reduced with a rise in SiO2-SiC NPs ratio. The absorbance of PS-PEG blend was improved about 68.6% at λ=320 nm, whereas the Eg was reduced to 3.45 eV. These outcomes are promising for optical and radiation attenuation approaches. The results of dielectric features showed that the dielectric loss (ϵ″) and dielectric constant (ϵ′) of (PS-PEG/SiO2-SiC) nanostructure samples lowered with rising frequency, whereas they tend to rise with an increase in SiO2-SiC nanoparticles content. The value of (σA.C) of (PS-PEG/SiO2-SiC) nanostructures enhanced with rising frequency and ratio of (SiO2-SiC) NPs. The results of gamma ray shielding showed the (PS-PEG/SiO2-SiC) nanostructures have high attenuation coefficients of gamma ray. Finally, the obtained results confirmed that the (PS-PEG/SiO2-SiC) nanostructure samples are promising for numerous optics and nanoelectronics applications.
