Study on coherent characteristics of a radially polarized gaussian schell-model elliptical vortex beam propagating through atmospheric turbulence along an uplink path
Abstract
Based on the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, analytical expressions for the cross-spectral density matrix of a radially polarized Gaussian Schell-model elliptical vortex (RPGSMEV) beam propagating through atmospheric turbulence along an uplink path are derived. Subsequently, the spectral degree of coherence (SDOC) and phase distribution of RPGSMEV beam in turbulence are investigated. Studies show that the SDOC of the RPGSMEV beam gradually degrades into a Gaussian-like distribution in turbulence. Moreover, the coherence rings in the SDOC of the RPGSMEV beam become more clearly observable when the initial coherence length and beam waist width are reduced as well as when the ellipticity is decreased. In addition, the topological charge determines the number of coherence rings and dislocation rings. Finally, the theoretical results of the SDOC are consistent with the results obtained from phase screen simulations. Our research findings are of significant reference value in the field of optical communication.
