Abstract

Digital holographic interferometry has several advantages over other nondestructive testing methods, in terms of speed of testing, accuracy, and flexibility. Traditional digital holographic systems are bulky and heavy and need time-consuming adjustments, if samples of various sizes are to be tested. Due to these, digital holographic systems are yet to become popular in industrial and field-level applications. This paper presents a very compact, scalable, and user-friendly digital holographic system that is especially suitable for precision testing of samples of various materials and sizes. The optical scheme is very simple and applies wavefront splitting using an adaptable variable reflectivity mirror. This resulted in compactness, beam uniformity, and easy scalability, facilitating quick recording of quality digital holograms and interferograms of samples of various sizes.
