Laser processing of voxels in different fabrication regimes for aperiodic volume optics
Abstract
Laser fabrication with ultrashort pulses allows fabrication in 3D inside transparent materials, and has been used for manufacture of a variety of in-volume optical structures. Aperiodic volume optics comprise a 3D array of point-like voxel elements, which are arranged in arbitrary locations as specified by optical design. Advancing beyond simple 2D diffractive structures, the 3D volume elements can generate a different output field depending on the wavelength and input angle of the incident light. In this talk, we will explore, in both theory and experiment, the impact of different fabrication regimes and materials on the properties of the voxel and the performance of the 3D volume optics.
