Visualization of peripheral nerve injuries in animal models
Abstract
Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) presents a significant clinical challenge, affecting over 100,000 individuals annually in the United States alone. PNI disrupts sensory, motor, and autonomic functions and can lead to long-term disability. Understanding the cellular and subcellular mechanisms of nerve degeneration and regeneration is essential for developing effective therapeutic strategies. Our interdisciplinary team of researchers and physicians is focused on elucidating the mechanisms of PNI using advanced imaging approaches and on identifying novel probes to visualize nerve injuries during surgery
