Chiral-induced charge transfer in CdSe nanocrystal-monolayer MoS2 heterostructures
Abstract
We report the combination of chiral semiconductor nanocrystals with monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) towards obtaining room temperature valley polarization. We recently demonstrated that we can achieve room temperature valley polarization in in naphthylethylammine based one-dimensional chiral lead halide perovskites combined with a monolayer of molybdenum disulfate, with the valley polarization enhanced via chiral induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect. Following a similar concept, we have introduced chirality via ligand exchange in a series of inorganic semiconductor nanocrystals, all inorganic perovskite and CdSe quantum dots, both with energy bandgap around 2.6 eV. Here we combined these chiral nanocrystals with monolayer TMDs, obtaining heterostructures where components interact via CISS. We explore the implications of ligand induced chirality of the nanocrystals on the CISS effect on the assembled nanostructures with broad band transient absorption microscopy and circular polarization photoluminescence microscopy.
