Abstract

The vacuum-noise based quantum random number generation (QRNG), which is featured with simple implementation and ease for photonic integration, has been widely investigated and demonstrated. However, it remains a challenge to realize the high-performance homodyne detector for this scheme, especially via photonic integration. In this paper, a vacuumnoise based QRNG system, which incorporates a chip integrated homodyne detector based on silicon-on-insulator platform cascaded with a single amplifier realized by a field effect transistor, is presented. Furthermore, a digital filter, which can realize a flexible passband filtering on raw data, is employed to suppress the low-frequency noise, resulting in a 12.49 dB clearance on average between shot noise and electrical noise with a bandwidth of 4 GHz. After the post-processing, a random number generation rate of 24 Gbps is achieved.
