Broadband dual-polarization reconfigurable intelligent surface for beam-scanning communication systems
Abstract
This paper presents the design and simulation of a broadband dual-polarized reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). Through an integrated configuration of radiating patch and phase shifters, the design achieves a substantial phase shift range across the 1.6 to 2.2GHz band while enabling independent phase control for dual polarizations within compact structural constraints. Simulation results demonstrate reflection magnitudes better than -5dB with phase shift ranges approaching 300° throughout the operational bandwidth. The implemented array exhibits flexible beam scanning capabilities with 60° maximum scanning angle, offering valuable insights for RIS applications in electromagnetic wave propagation control.
