Abstract

The frame serves as the load-bearing skeleton of a vehicle and is crucial for occupant safety. A 3D model of a frame was created using CATIA software. This model was subsequently imported into both Ansys Workbench and Altair HyperWorks for free modal simulation analysis to extract the first 10 orders of natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes. Comparing the simulation results with experimental data verifies whether the frame's natural frequencies avoid potential excitation ranges, thus assessing the rationality of the frame design. Furthermore, the comparative analysis using these two mainstream simulation software packages provides valuable insights for designers in selecting the most suitable tool for such tasks. Utilizing simulation during the digital design phase enables early identification and rectification of design issues, reducing machining and physical validation costs, and ultimately shortening the product development timeline.
