Abstract

This study proposes a cross-section measurement method for UHV transmission engineering using airborne LiDAR point clouds and greedy projection triangulation enhanced by Moving Least Squares (MLS). The procedure includes: point cloud filtering via progressive TIN densification, statistical outlier removal, and buffer selection; terrain reconstruction using MLS-based triangulation; and topology-aware intersection testing for cross-section extraction. Experimental validation with field-surveyed references shows the method achieves higher accuracy and up to 4.4× faster processing compared to conventional approaches.
