Research on the external characteristics testing and numerical simulation methods of spiral Labyrinth pumps
Abstract
This study focuses on the spiral labyrinth pump, and conducts in-depth experimental and numerical simulation methods for its external characteristics. In the experimental section, the performance of the spiral labyrinth pump under different working conditions was systematically investigated and compared with the performance of the electric submersible pump under the same design parameters. At the same time, the influence of the two key factors of gas content and liquid viscosity on the external characteristics of the spiral labyrinth pump was studied. In the simulation section, the calculation accuracy and operation efficiency of different calculation methods and different turbulence models were studied, and the numerical simulation method was studied and corrected according to the experimental data, and the coupling simulation method suitable for the spiral labyrinth pump to deal with the fluid problems in the small gap at the dynamic and static interface was explored. The ultimate conclusion is that compared with the electric submersible pump, the spiral labyrinth pump has obvious advantages in conveying viscous and gas-containing media; the new coupling simulation method improves the calculation efficiency by 40% while ensuring the error within 4%; when conveying pure water and gas-containing media, the turbulence model selected SST k-ɷ has the smallest error, and when conveying viscous media, the turbulence model selected RNG k-ɛ has the smallest error. This conclusion offers significant theoretical foundation and practical direction for the optimal design and efficient operation of the spiral labyrinth pump.
