Abstract

To address practical needs in storm surge disaster prevention along Taizhou's coast, this study developed both an astronomical tide prediction model and a typhoon storm surge numerical refinement model. Building on these frameworks, we implemented a refined storm surge forecasting system for Taizhou's coastal areas using China's indigenous information technology architecture. Through operational forecasts of multiple typhoons, the system achieved an 80% average qualification rate with peak tide level predictions within ⪅±30cm, demonstrating excellent forecast accuracy and promising potential for practical application.
