Shaking table test of new self-centering frame-rocking wall structures under bidirectional seismic action
Abstract
To investigate the seismic behavior of a new self-centering frame-rocking wall system under bidirectional ground motions, a scaled four-story frame model with a geometric ratio of 1:3 was constructed and tested on a shaking table. An evaluation of the model's dynamic characteristics identified its natural vibration period and damping ratio. The structural responses, in terms of both displacement and acceleration, were documented for different ground motion types and seismic intensity levels. The seismic performance of the proposed self-centering frame-rocking wall structure was evaluated and compared with that of a conventional frame system. Some beneficial conclusions were drawn, which can provide references for similar studies.
