Abstract

There are always certain discrepancies in temperature control data of concrete dams across different construction stages, making it necessary to analyse the temperature control scheme based on stage-specific temperature control data. Taking an under-construction concrete gravity dam in Northwest China as a case study, this paper utilizes the latest experimental results of concrete thermodynamic parameters at the current stage, combined with actual concrete pouring progress, pouring temperatures, and air temperature data. A finite element simulation was conducted to reassess the temperature control standards and measures formulated in the previous phase. The results indicate that the crack resistance safety factor of internal dam concrete exceeds 1.65. When calculated using the virtual tensile strength method, the crack resistance safety factor of surface concrete during winter long time intervals slightly falls below 1.65, while other surface zones meet the requirement. To address this, strengthen the thermal insulation of concrete surface is recommended during winter long time intervals. The analysis of temperature control schemes based on stage-specific temperature control data can facilitate timely optimization of temperature control standards and measures, effectively reducing the risk of concrete cracking.
