Influencing factors and optimization strategies of green building engineering cost under carbon neutrality
Abstract
The global focus on achieving carbon neutrality has emerged as a significant catalyst for change in the construction industry. This research investigates the drivers and cost optimisation of green building engineering within the context of carbon neutrality. Through analyses of several case studies of green building projects and interviews with experts alongside Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) modelling and systems dynamics, this research rigorously determines the most important factors that influence costs in building engineering. Technical factors such as the integration of renewable energy systems into buildings and the energy-efficient design of the building itself all constitute strain on costs; the economic factors tilt towards the balance point of the total cost in the lifecycle and investment; while policy factors covering carbon trading policies and green finance promote overall cost reductions. The study also proposes policy directions for the construction industry towards rational precision in the systematically optimised factors which include policy innovation, structural optimisation of the technical pathway, cost control model design, innovation in management, and coordination which formulates a minimally strategically set operational framework making it possible to construct the building economically, practically, and feasibly without impairing the aggressive carbon reduction targets. The theoretical elements of this research provide clear practical reasoning underpinning the synergy between the economics of green buildings and the intended objectives of carbon cuts. This work enhances the economic analysis of green buildings from the perspective of carbon neutrality and serves as the reference point in the direction of a low carbon transition for the construction industry overall.
