Visibility improvement of sand-dust image using S-shaped functions and constrained histogram specification
Abstract
The sand-dust image has low image quality due to light scattering and absorption caused by sandstorms. Some methods have been proposed in order to improve the visibility of the sand-dust images. However, these methods sometimes fails to remove color casts or improve the visibility. To cope with these problems, in this study, a visibility improvement method for sand-dust images using the luminance enhancement and the color correction is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through comparative experiments.
