Abstract

This paper presents a multi-objective optimization method for longitudinal vibration dampers in ship propulsion systems, aiming to reduce power loss, enhance transmission efficiency and improve shaft vibration performance. Considering the coupling of the shaft system, dampers and propellers, it constructs a shaft system dynamics model, uses the Newmark-β method to solve vibration responses, and applies the MOPSO algorithm to optimize damper parameters, achieving better vibration control and energy transmission efficiency. Results show that the longitudinal damper reduces the vibration amplitudes of the propeller, intermediate shaft and elastic coupling shaft by 30%, 32% and 27% respectively; the MOPSO-optimized damper further cuts them by 22%, 19% and 26% respectively, significantly enhancing shaft dynamic performance and stability. This work provides an effective optimization framework for vibration suppression and energy transmission in marine propulsion systems, promoting intelligent design of longitudinal dampers under complex conditions.
