Abstract

This study focuses on the impact of foggy weather on intelligent driving optical perception systems and corresponding countermeasures. It first elaborates on the working principles of LiDAR and cameras, analyzes the characteristics of foggy weather such as low visibility, then explains issues caused by fog, including signal attenuation of LiDAR and image degradation of cameras. Through experiments, the perception performance of different vehicle models in varying foggy conditions is tested. Finally, countermeasures are proposed from three aspects: hardware improvement, algorithm optimization, and system adjustment, and future research and development directions are prospected.
