Abstract

How to precisely and directly detect binocular stereopsis-depth in real space is rarely studied before. In this letter, wepresent an innovative method to precisely detect stereoscopic depth based on binocular parallax in real space, whichintegrates human physiological characteristics of binocular imaging and highly accurate CMM(abbreviationofcoordinate measuring machine) detection, to achieve a highly-precise detecting effect. The proposed method introducesPanum Fusion Zone (comfortable human parallax imaging zone) to improve the traditional parallax model, andestablishes the precise converting model between CMM space and real space to detect the coordinates of binocular parallax imaging. Experimental results show that the method not only corrects the traditional binocular parallax imaging model and firstly specifies the precise detecting zone in the three-dimensional coordinate space , but also improves the detecting accuracy.
