Abstract

Childhood obesity rates continue to rise worldwide, and traditional physical education programs often fail to maintain adolescents' motivation to exercise. In recent years, Competitive Exergames (CE) have combined physical exercise with real-time peer competition, providing a new training method. This study investigated the effects of an eight-week CE intervention on Nintendo Switch on Weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), and Body Fat percentage (BF%). among overweight middle school students. 48 students from two public middle schools were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group for eight weeks of training. 44 students completed the training, and their physical changes were measured. The training results were analysed using mathematical statistics and descriptive statistics. The results showed that continuous CE training can help overweight middle school students lose weight. Long-term effects remain to be verified in planned follow-ups.
