An empirical research on influence factors of users’ continuance usage of fitness app
Abstract
With the rapid proliferation of mobile health technologies, fitness apps have become a key digital tool for promoting physical activity. Grounded in the expectation-confirmation model and perceived value theory, this study constructs a research model aimed at analyzing factors that impact users' continuance intention toward fitness apps. Empirical validation of this model is achieved through structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that expectation confirmation significantly enhances users' perceived value (i.e., utilitarian value, hedonic value, and social value) and satisfaction. Perceived value positively influences both satisfaction and continuance intention. Furthermore, satisfaction and perceived value are key determinants of whether users will continue using fitness apps. These findings not only deepen the theoretical knowledge of post-adoption behavior in the mobile fitness apps domain but also offer practical insights for promoting physical activity among the Chinese population through digital technologies.
