Abstract

Ice and snow roads can significantly reduce the road adhesion coefficient, resulting in increased braking distances and diminished vehicle handling performance. These conditions are major contributors to traffic accidents. Combining the broad visual perception capabilities of video image detection with the precise physical property recognition advantages of ultrasonic detection., a fused perception method is developed. This approach enables dual-mode sensing that combines "wide-range coverage" and "close-range precision," thereby enhancing the robustness and accuracy of road condition assessment in complex winter environments.
