Abstract

The spiral cleaning blade is a core component of the wire rope cleaning device. It effectively removes degraded lubricating grease from the surface of the wire rope. But, sliding friction generated by the contact between the blade and the rope surface leads to material loss during operation. This significantly compromising the device's service life and working performance. To study the wear between the blade and the wire rope, a 3-dimensional simulation model of the blade and wire rope was established based on structural analysis of the wire rope. The simulation software was used to analyze the wear variation on the surface of the blade under various working conditions by Archard wear theory. The results show that the working load has a significant impact on wear, whereas the working speed has a minor influence.
