Abstract

Surface quality of mechanical parts have a significant effect on its working performance. Different machining methods have different effect on surface quality because of its own machining mechanism. Researching for the influence of electrochemical mechanical polishing (ECMP) on the shaft and bearing’s surface quality, an experimental setup was built up on a modified lathe, the oilstone grinding and ECMP experiments were proceed. The influences of two machining methods on arithmetical mean deviation of profile Ra, maximum height of profile Rz, mean width of the profile elements Rsm and material ratio of the profile Rmr(c) were analyzed and compared. The results of experiments show that ECMP is an effective method for shaft and bearing’s machining, which processing efficiency and surface quality is improved obviously.
