Active support strategy of reactive power for PV grid-connected inverters based on droop control
Abstract
Large-scale integration of distributed PV systems poses grave challenges to the stable operation of power grids due to the inherent volatility and uncertainty of renewable energy sources. To address the resultant voltage quality issues, this paper proposes the active support strategy of reactive power for PV grid-connected inverters based on droop control. By monitoring the grid voltage in real time, the inverter dynamically adjusts its reactive power output to actively support the grid voltage. Additionally, this paper conducted an in-depth analysis of the relationship between reactive power and voltage in distribution networks, clarifying the critical role of reactive power in maintaining grid voltage stability. Experimental verification was conducted using the Simulink simulation, employing a structure combining the droop control system and the energy storage system. The proposed active support strategy based on droop control was validated through PV output voltage curves and grid-connected voltage waveforms, demonstrating its feasibility and effectiveness. This approach provides strong support for enhancing the grid’s ability to handle the volatility of renewable energy sources.
