Abstract

This study analyzes the propagation characteristics and exhaust effect of the smoke in the generator floor of a pumped storage power station. The Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) software was used to analyze the smoke flow, velocity field, temperature field, and visibility changes within 300 s after the fire. The results show that the smoke above the fire source has obvious stratification under the condition of evenly placed of the 12 exhaust vents. In addition, the temperature distribution is relatively uniform, and the temperature at a height of 2 m above the floor remains at around 26℃. Furthermore, the visibility meets the requirements for personnel evacuation. This setup reduces local high-temperature zones and improves overall smoke removal efficiency.
