Numerical study on positive‑pressure ventilation in stairwells and elevator lobbies of pumped storage power station buildings
Abstract
This study investigated the positive‑pressure ventilation and airflow parameters in the stairwells and elevator lobbies of pumped storage power station buildings. A physical model of the stairwell and combined elevator lobby was established using FDS. Fire scenarios were designed to simulate the pressure parameters under the operation of the pressurized air supply system. Results show that within 300 seconds after fire occurrence, the average relative pressure between the antechamber and the corridor is 25.2 Pa. The average relative pressure between the stairwell and the antechamber is 24.5 Pa. Both meet the requirements of the code and can effectively prevent smoke from entering the stairwell. The pressurized air supply system can stably maintain a reasonable positive pressure environment in stairwells and elevator lobbies. This environment would provide safety guarantees for personnel evacuation. Research could serve as a reference for designing and optimizing the stairwell pressurized air supply system in pumped storage power station buildings.
