Abstract

Subway stations are highly crowded public spaces, and ensuring the safe evacuation of people during disasters is key to the safety of the metro system.Taking a real inverted hall-type subway station in Beijing as the research object, the authors uses Pathfinder to simulate passenger evacuation under different fire scenarios and analyze the rules of personnel evacuation. Results show that passengers evacuating downward exhibit selectivity toward the station's evacuation staircases. The total evacuation time for fire scenarios in this subway station is approximately 350 s, which can mee the evacuation time requirements of subway regulations. This study could improve the fire safety level of the inverted hall-type subway stations.
