Research on information system project schedule management based on earned value analysis
Abstract
As the complexity of information system projects increases, issues such as schedule overruns and cost overruns become increasingly prominent. This paper focuses on the Earned Value Analysis (EVA) method and integrates it with the practice of information system project schedule management to construct a dynamic monitoring model encompassing Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV), and Actual Cost (AC). Through case studies, it is found that the negative correlation between Cost Variance (CV) and Schedule Variance (SV) is significant, with project delays often resulting from frequent requirement changes, resource allocation imbalances, and testing delays. The research proposes a warning mechanism based on the Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI), along with optimization of remaining resource allocation through the Estimate at Completion (EAC) model. This paper provides a quantifiable decision-making support tool for information system project schedule management, offering practical significance for improving project delivery success rates.
