Abstract

Esports stands out as one of the most popular business lines of the modern era. This study examines the relationship between esports leadership, talent development environment (TDE), and task performance using structural equation modeling. The research is based on quantitative methods, with data collected from 764 Turkish esports players through an online survey. The study utilizes three validated measurement scales: the Esports Leadership Scale, the TDE Questionnaire for Sport, and the Task Performance Scale. The findings indicate that esports leadership has a direct impact on both the TDE (β = 0.784) and task performance. In addition, the TDE significantly influences task performance, confirming its partial mediating role in the relationship between esports leadership and task performance. These results suggest that leadership in esports extends beyond in-game decision making, which can shape a supportive development environment. Practical implications include the need for leadership training programs and structured talent management strategies to enhance player performance. Future research should explore longitudinal designs, cross-cultural comparisons, and leadership interventions to further understand esports leadership dynamics.
