Abstract

Abstract Tin oxide (SnO2) quantum dots were synthesized via a thermal quenching method and evaluated for methanol vapor sensing. Characterization confirmed their nanoscale size (~10–12 nm). The sensor exhibited high sensitivity, rapid response, and recovery, with optimal performance at 250°C. Enhanced surface area and efficient charge transfer mechanisms enabled effective detection across various methanol concentrations. These results demonstrate that SnO2 quantum dots are promising candidates for fast, reliable, and low-cost methanol gas sensing applications.
