Heat and Mass Transfer under Dissociate Gas Flowing around Blunt Bodies
Abstract
Abstract Convective and diffusion heat fluxes and surface temperatures of blunt cones of high-speed aircraft have been determined using an approximate analytical solution of a system of equations for the dynamic, thermal, and diffusion boundary layers. In the approximation of a binary gas mixture consisting of oxygen and nitrogen atoms and molecules, the physical and mathematical boundary layer model has been reduced, using the Lees‒Dorodnitsyn variables, to a nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations accounting for the dissociation, recombination, and catalytic activity of the body’s surface. To determine the surface temperature of a blunt body, the balance of supplied convective and diffusion heat fluxes, as well as fluxes removed into the body by radiation and conduction has been investigated. In the developed solution method, heat fluxes and surface temperature at the forward stagnation point have first been determined and, then, using the Avduevsky’s variable, heat fluxes and temperatures have been found taking into account the pressure gradient across the entire blunt body’s surface. Numerous results on heat fluxes and surface temperatures in wide ranges of the Mach number, atomic component concentrations, and catalytic recombination coefficients have been obtained.
