Abstract

Abstract The reactions of L-serine and L-threonine with 4-isothiocyanato-4-methylpentan-2-one afforded [1,3]oxazolo[3,2-c]pyrimidine-3-carboxylic acids 3a and 3b, respectively. The formation of the corresponding cis isomers was confirmed by X-ray analysis of acid 3a. Methyl ester, hydrazide, and amides were synthesized from acid 3a.
