Abstract

Healthcare systems are increasingly challenged by how to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into care pathways in a constantly evolving landscape. Within just a few years, AI has expanded to encompass nearly all clinical specialties, and new methods have significantly enhanced its ability to leverage real-world data. Decision-makers now face the need to determine which AI-powered healthcare solutions to invest or not invest in. As we navigate the first major era of AI commercialisation,1 especially within the healthcare sector, there is an urgent need to refine our ability to compare AI-enabled systems addressing the same clinical or organisational need.
