PP-51 Print and deliver: trialling a print and distribution service to increase access of the Victoria & Stuart project toolkit for end-of-life care planning with people with learning disabilities
Abstract
Introduction The Victoria & Stuart Project co-produced a free online, downloadable toolkit of pictorial resources to help people with learning disabilities plan for the end-of-life. The burden of printing the resources has been a barrier to their implementation within social care practice. Addressing this issue, Print & Deliver funded by the Marie Curie Research Impact Fund is trialling a free print and distribution service of the toolkit. Aims 1. Assess whether this free print and distribution service increases accessibility and implementation of the toolkit in practice 2. Assess how and to what extent the toolkit is useful in practice 3. Explore the need for future access to the toolkit Methods For a six-month period commencing 1 September 2025, 1000 free printed copies of the toolkit resources were made available to order through the Marie Curie website. A webinar launched the service and a promotional video involving researchers with learning disabilities was shared online. An online follow-up survey is measuring how the resources are being employed and their usefulness across practice. Results By 23 September 2025, all initial stock had been ordered. Additional funding has enabled 1000 additional copies of the toolkit available to order. Preliminary survey feedback has highlighted that the toolkit is easy to use and can aid conversations around end-of-life. Conclusion Uptake of the service indicates demand for printed copies of the toolkit. Data analysis of the survey is ongoing, and will offer further insights around how and to what extent the toolkit is useful. Impact Print & Deliver is addressing an immediate practical barrier to using The Victoria & Stuart Project toolkit by making printed resources freely available to staff. The study’s findings will guide decisions around future hosting of the resources, including whether this service should become a longer-term offer through the Marie Curie website.
