Abstract

In many scientific applications the bulk of the work takes the form of loops over large datasets, specifically multidimensional arrays. Often, the loop iterations are independent, for instance, in computing the output components of a matrix-vector product, the pixels of an image under convolution, or any operation on the points of a finite elements (FE) grid. Since the iterations are independent, they can be processed in parallel.
