Abstract

With multicore processors it is tempting to think that all processing elements can access all the data, and the problem of parallelism is largely one of dividing the work. This assumption is not valid if you are dealing with a cluster architecture, where multiple computers (whether that’s a modern multicore or a pre-2000 single-core model) are connected together through some sort of network.
