Abstract

If you use an integrated development environment (IDE) for code development, building a program is a single press on a button. Behind the scenes, however, several steps are involved, and it useful to know what they are. This chapter goes into detail on compiling and linking, also touching on the related topic of libraries. The CMake utility for automating this process will be discussed in Chapter 37.
