Abstract

This work-in-progress study examines how human-centred artificial intelligence (HCAI) principles can be operationalised in the design of teaching and learning activities in higher education. The study explores an applied pedagogical framework that integrates generative AI (GenAI) tools into an undergraduate course. Rather than positioning GenAI as an autonomous problem solver, the approach frames it as a collaborative cognitive partner that supports student reasoning, promotes responsible AI use, and cultivates reflective, critical thinking.
