TDSQL-Boundless: A Distributed Database System for Large-scale Heterogeneous Multi-Table Workloads
Abstract
Traditional distributed databases achieve horizontal scaling of storage and computing via cross-server data sharding, enabling theoretical unlimited expansion. Yet, simple sharding strategies often fall short in real-world complex workloads with numerous heterogeneous tables. While modern databases enhance flexibility to some degree, they also escalate metadata management and distributed coordination overhead.
