Abstract

Commonly performed examinations in brain nuclear medicine using single-photon tracers include single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), which evaluates brain function through cerebral blood flow; dopamine transporter SPECT, which assesses dopaminergic neuronal function; and metaiodobenzylguanidine cardiac scintigraphy, which reflects sympathetic nerve dysfunction. Images are interpreted for regional abnormalities, and statistical analyses are used for quantitative evaluation. For a clinically meaningful report, key information such as symptoms, suspected diseases, clinical course, medical history, medication, and magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography findings at the time of the examination request.
