Fluorine-Doped Carbon Coated LiMn 0.25 Fe 0.75 PO 4 Nanoplates for Ultra-Fast Charging and Wide-Temperature Lithium-Ion Batteries with Superior Cycling Stability
Abstract
To address LiFePO 4 ’s limitations in high‑/low‑temperature cycling and fast‑charging performance, we prepared LiMn 0.25 Fe 0.75 PO 4 (LMFP) nanoplates via hydrothermal synthesis and modified them with a fluorine‑doped carbon coating. The fluorine-doped carbon coating was applied via a co-modification process using polyvinylidene fluoride as the fluorine source and sucrose as the carbon source. Remarkably, the optimized LMFP-C-F cathode delivers exceptional ultra-fast charging capability. It achieves discharge capacities of 120.6 mAh g⁻ 1 at 20 C and 75.9 mAh g⁻ 1 even at an ultrahigh rate of 50 C. Furthermore, the material exhibits outstanding cycling stability across an extremely wide temperature range. At room temperature (1 C), it maintains 94.8% capacity retention after 300 cycles, with an initial discharge capacity of 151.8 mAh g⁻ 1 . Impressively, even at a high temperature of 60 °C (1 C), it retains 96.4% capacity after 300 cycles. Notably, the material also performs exceptionally well under harsh cold conditions, delivering excellent discharge capacity and cycling stability at both −15 and −30 °C. The exceptional ultra-fast charging and cycling performance under extreme conditions make this LMFP-C-F a highly promising for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.
