Fabrication, Surface Characterization and Electrical Properties of Flexible PVA/CdNiO Nanocomposites for Dielectric Applications
Abstract
This study used the solution casting process to create new composite (PVA/CdNiO) films for applied in energy storage applications. These films were composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and cadmium nickel oxide nanoparticles (CdNiO). The nanocomposites PVA/CdNiO films were successfully analyzed by the techniques of Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The SEM images of the composites at various magnifications show clear morphological changes as CdNiO nanoparticles are gradually increased. The thermal stability is modified by the shift in the commencement of thermal deterioration to higher temperatures caused by the addition of CdNiO nanoparticles. The dielectric characteristics of PVA were tested in relation to the concentration of CdNiO at frequencies of 10 Hz and 6 MHz. The conductivity increased from 2.73 × 10 −11 S cm −1 to 9.68 × 10 −11 S cm −1 for the composite PVA/CdNiO, whereas the dielectric constant increased from 7.40 to 8.59. According to the data obtained, the dielectric properties were altered, to be able to apply these composites in various dielectric applications.
