Abstract

Research on all-solid-state thin film Li-ion batteries has typically employed materials such as Au and Pt as substrates due to their less reactivity at high temperatures. In this study, we prepared LiCoO 2 thin films on Al, which is a practical material that is cost-effective and easily processed, as positive electrodes using pulsed laser deposition at different temperatures and systematically evaluated their structures and charge/discharge properties. The results demonstrated that the as-grown LiCoO 2 thin film on an Al substrate functioned as a positive electrode for Li-ion batteries, exhibiting a discharge capacity of approximately 135 mAhg −1 and excellent cycling characteristics.
