Abstract

Abstract This article aims to discuss the conflict between investment and the environmental preservation in the context of globalization. All countries strive for growth and progress through aggressive competition for investment, especially foreign investment. This approach has led to polluters exporting their environmentally harmful activities to the global south or trying to exploit the latter’s natural resources. In this case, we try to give an overview of the social impacts and risks for civil society and indigenous peoples who are beginning to take legal action against polluters, be they governments or corporations.
