Abstract

In a closing reflection to the volume, Stefan Hanss reiterates the case for recentring translators in the history of translation, reminding us of the ways in which the historian’s craft is itself an act of translating the past into the language of the present, and in doing so, recalibrates our sense of time, place, agency, and language itself.
