Abstract

Traditionally, the genus Ochromonas comprises naked chrysophytes with two unequal flagella. From 1887, the year in which the genus name Ochromonas was published, 129 names of species and infraspecies taxa were proposed. Thirty names were invalidly published. A replacement name at the species rank has been proposed for Ochromonas pyriformis var. monochrysis H. Ettl. Chromophyton vischeri has been validated.
