Gypona nigronervosa Stål (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Gyponini): redescription of male, first description of female, new synonymy, color polymorphism, and new records
Abstract
Based on the study of the holotypes of Gypona nigronervosa Stål, 1854 and Gypona validana DeLong, 1980, along with 80 additional specimens from Brazil, it is proposed that G. validana is a junior synonym of G. nigronervosa. A detailed redescription and illustrations of the male are provided, as well as the first description of the female and new distribution records. Additionally, a discussion on sexual color dimorphism and male color polymorphism in Gyponini is presented.
